Men are B******sSaturday 12th February 2005
All Men are B******s apparently. It's been said many times before. We are only after Women for one thing then we throw them away.

If this is the case though, what does it make Women? Men will use Women and have done with it. Quick and painless. Women on the other hand take your heart soften it up, find it's most vulnerable point then stab and rip at it with all their might.

Behind every great man is a Women, behind every broken man is also a Women. They have the power to destroy a man with a few words. Man is the strong one, I think not. It's Woman that is the one without remorse.

I didn't want a heart anyway, they are over-rated. It's much better being independant and what-not. Hey I might even finish my web-site. Then I can feel real proud with my life... ooo a web-site. Aren't I the bee's knees.

Thanks a bunch woman-kind.

Region free KiSS DP-450Saturday 5th February 2005
I have had a KiSS DP-450 DVD Player. This has been a long serving toy for me. The first DVD player capable of playing DivX and XviD files.

The only down side to this DVD player was the fact that it still restricted what region DVD you can play. Region 2 here. Rather annoying, and something that KiSS have no plans of changing in a later firmware updates. Something that I always considered very odd as they support being able to download films of the Internet and playing them (really, why else would you have DivX).

Although the wonderful world of the Internet gave us a guy going by the name of Hijacker, with a guide on making it region free. Although one thing is the firmware limits the speed. I don't think this is something that he has done deliberately but a side-effect of making it region free.

The actual DVD-ROM drive in the DP-450 (well, in mine) is a Toshiba SD-M1712. Another thing this same guy has done is crack this drive to region-free with full speed on it.

So, the solution to the problem is to put the cracked Toshiba firmware on it. Hey presto. How to do this?

1. Download the Toshiba SD-M1712 firmare.

2. Eject the drive on your DP-450 and turn it off

3. Pop the top off your KiSS DP-450

4. Unscrew the DVD-ROM unit and slide it out

5. Plug the unit into your PC

6. Boot up on into DOS (NOT Windows), and run the driver update you downloaded.

7. Put the drive back into your KiSS

8. Turn it on. Press: Eject - Clear - 2 - 7 - 6

9. Hey presto Region menu at the bottom (select all)

Make sure you also have a good firmware running on the drive. It seems that version 2.7.4 is good.

I had an odd problem with the drive whistling. To solve this just reset it by pressing: Eject - Clear - 1 - 2 - 3.

24th JanSaturday 5th February 2005
Mon 24th of Jan was supposed to be the most depressing day of the year. It's a Monday for one, and it's after Christmas has worn off.

Well, a new month, so we have the whole year to look forward to. Alas I don't think this is going to be my year. 2004 was brilliant for me. I don't think my luck is going to hold out for 2005.

In fact, I can't think of a single good thing that has happened to me yet. When not being ill life has just progressed, nothing good happening. I've been ill since New Year's eve, and I'm still suffering.

Other things have just gone and been messed up now too.

Although, I do have my Squeezebox still, it is rather good. Finally received my headboard for my bed. Naturally when I moved my wall mounted shelves to make room I was watching TV at the same time and didn't leave enough room... woops.

But really, does any of that matter? I'm not happy, simple as. Hopefully this will all reverse and I will be as happy as I was at the end of 2004. It's not something that is in my hands though.
