Windows 10 - not sleeping
More Windows 10 teething problems. I noticed my computer wasn't sleeping, normally it's set to sleep after an hour - not only was it not sleeping, the screen wasn't turning off, and nor would the screensaver kick in.
Obviously this is just a power settings thing - but actually, it wasn't.
Back to basics and unplugging devices and the culprit was my old Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 joystick. For some reason the Windows 10 default Joystick driver prevents the computer from performing any power saving operations whilst it's connected.
I haven't had a chance to have a look at device settings and whether it can be overridden with powercfg, I've just unplugged it for now. But for anybody else with trouble with your computer not going to sleep or standby, then try unplugging any gaming devices as a starter for ten.
